I've been trying to save some of this for Keith Burns, but he has never come and picked it up - so I'm turnin' the mess out of it. Sorry Keith...:o

Feedback of all kinds welcomed.

This one is 12" wide, 4-1/4" tall, 3/8" walls. Finish is buffed Watco.

Too bad for Keith......... Beauties all Mark. That top one really catches my eye, but could just be the side on view. Whats next?

Beauties Mark!! What's your take on the difference between finishes? The Watco'd ones seem a little darker--I guess to be expected. The poly finish is noticeably lighter, but I'm guessing they will all darken over time. In a side by side lineup do you have a preference based on finish?

Ted, I actually prefer the gel poly for finish on these. What I failed to mention was the Watco was a mixture of both natural and Cherry Watco - just experimenting. So they are actually a bit darker than they would be with just the natural oil.

To me you just can't hardly beat the gel poly finish on most woods. Some other guys put me onto it, and I know plenty of other folks are also using it.

Nice work, Mark.
I was looking for gel poly in the borg yesterday, but they don't sell it. Can someone tell me where to get it and the brand? I found gel poly mixed with stain, but not plain gel poly.

Great looking NEs, Mark! I think the bottom one is my favorite for symmetry, profile, and bottom design. Just at the right time too--I have three that I DNA'd 21 days ago and are ready to be unwrapped--think I'll unwrap one tonight now that I have some inspiration from your work!

Thanks for the wonderful pics.

All look great Mark, but the bottom one is my favorite. The entire piece has a very graceful look to it.

Mark,

All of them are great but number 3 is my favorite. I like that wide rim and string drop curve. Number 1 would be my favorite if it had a smaller base but it's a nice looking turning just the way it is.

Good job all around.

Nice stuff. Any problems with bugs? The cherry I have became infested with a boaring beetle.

No problem with bugs so far. I had some Hickory stashed with the Cherry and the Hickory got loaded up with bugs/worms (so it got tossed). But as far as I can tell the Cherry is free from critters.
