Found this little bandsaw buried in the bottom of a garage sale ad on Craig's List. Its a Rockwell 28-3X0 20" bandsaw. When I took the tension off the blade, I discovered the upper tire is broken, other than that everything is present and working. Its got a 2hp 3 phase motor, so I'll either need to swap that out, or get a phase converter.

Cory, This is a great gloat... Congratulations on a wonderful bandsaw and a fantastic price.

You find anymore of these monsters and you will have to build yourself a larger shop!

:D Good snag. I got a rockwell saw like that one at a school auction except it is variable speed for wood/metal and it has a blade welder/grinder on it. But I had to pay $900 for it.
PS: Iturra(? spelling) has the bandsaw tires for about the same price as delta has. They are not cheap. I had to replace both of mine since they were brittle and shattered. They are special tires that only delta/rockwell use on their saw. They are a crowned T shape. They are not hard to put on You put it in HOT water 1st to soften it up. Then you slip it onto the wheel using a wood clamp to keep it from slipping off as you pry it onto the rim. It will pop on. It's like changing a bike tire. Be sure to dry it off after soaking it in the water before putting it on to avoid rust. It needs no cement. It will even/center it self out on it's own. I wish I bought my tires from Irurra than Delta. They seem more friendly and have a great bandsaw parts catalogue

Bill - thanks for the heads up, I'll check them out. Word on the street is Delta is going to stop making them soon. Good to know someone else carries them.

Sweetness and Light! :)

Nice gloat, should be a good one, with a little TLC!

Cheers!

Wow - at that price that is a major gloat! I gotta start checking the garage sale listings I guess.

NICE saw, and the price makes it stellar! Congratulations!

By the way, living with a phase converter isn't bad. I'm one pole away from a triple-can pole, but the geniuses that run our local utility have decreed that I would have to pay to rewire the whole run down the street to get 'real' three-phase. "Nerts!" I said, and haven't regretted it.

Not bad for $100 huh?

All was good until that last sentence.

Now you've graduated from "Congratulations!" to "You Suck!" ;)

Nice score, Cory. At that price you could buy a replacement motor and still have a good deal on your hands.
