Well here is what I did this evening with a piece of spalted Alder.
The Band - Saw did very well sawing through this 10" deep & wide piece. it took about 2 1/2 minutes. I converted this G1019 Band-Saw to a 1 1/2 hp motor & used a 3/4" 4 TPI Timberwolf blade, I also used this to round this piece up as close as I could. Even then it wasn't that round & shook my 420 lb. lathe & bench a little. It'll set for a while now slathered in wax, it was partially dry but still needs to wait awhile. Next the other half.

Hey Bart, I could't tell from the pctures , but did you turn a rough bowl and then coat it with anchor seal? Do you have a Stronghold or simular chuck?

Nope just face plates & coated with paste wax.
