I recently started turning, and I have been reading the posts here for about a month, so I thought it was time to post something myself. My wife gave away all of the bowls I have turned before I could get pics, but they were nothing special anyways. I started making pens last week, and here are my first attempts. Let me know what you guys think-

The pen and pencil set on the left are pecan, the one on the far right is eucalyptus, and the rest are mesquite. All local woods.

Here is my first failed attempt at a segemented pen.

First finished segmented pen. I tried to put a twist on a technique from billiard cue construction called a butterfly splice.

Another view showing one of the longer points that extend to the upper barrel.
