Here are some pics of my first project since setting up a new (very small!) shop. Criticism is welcome. The design is mine. The woods are cherry and maple (what I happened to have).

Cheers

Very nice. I dont think the picture quality does it any justice.

How did you join the legs and side rails?

Mortise & tenon. Mortises cut with a router and squared with chisel, tenons cut on a tablesaw. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice work Hans,

Dovetails are my next thing to learn. Yours look great! Along with the table of course.

Very nice color combo and the paneled sides are a few steps away from ordinary. I like a simple but unusual design.

Looks great Hans. I like the wood selection and design. It's great to see what other creekers have been up to.

Hans: I can't believe this is your first project. You did an excellent job and should be very proud of your work. Thanks for sharing.

Nice! If that's really your first project, you can lobby to replace Tage Frid! :D

Honest, it's my first piece of furniture. A few picture frames and a cutting board or two before, but this was to cut my teeth on something real.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Doesn't anybody have any suggestions for improvement?

I didn't particularly like the way the side of the drawer looks. Next time I'll stick with a traditional box inside a box design. I liked playing with chunks of wood looking for a handle shape.

Cheers
