benchtop mortiser

Can anyone recommend a benchtop mortiser? I'm looking at one of the $250 or less models preferrably...Delta, Jet, Fisch...Powermatic looks nice, but's it about $100 more...

Any help would be great.

I've had a Delta 1/2 horsepower benchtop unit for several years. I've been pleased with it. Originally tried a drill-press attachment but returned it for the dedicated unit. Just used it on a table to knock out 8 mortises 1/2 by about four inches each in about 30 minutes. It really works fine.

With any of them, make sure you're getting good quality bits and take your time - they will burn easily.
