I am building my 8 year old a chest for her American doll stuff. Since I usually plan out the projects pretty well I already have a lock set. Since I do a bad job of making adjustments during the projects, I put myself in a predicament where my lock doesn't work anymore. The issue is in the thickness of the case, I went to 7/16" so the chest stays relatively light. Now my lock is too thick. So I started thinking about making a lock. Was wondering if anyone has any info on wooden locks? I looked through my book on chests and they only show one lock that was makeable but I don't realy care for it. Anyone know of a site or a book that has different locks to make out of wood? TIA

Could you laminate (thicken) just the part of the top and bottom where the lock goes? ...And then use the lockset you purchased?

I was thinking the same thing as Andrew. Put it on the inside to hide it, or put it outside and make it a design feature.
