I recently discovered a website that translates to Japanese characters. You cannot copy and paste though. You have to select the Japanese,
right click, print, scan.

Better than nothing. I cannot tell you how accurate it is, since I don't speak Japanese.

Stu in Tokyo once offered to do some translations, you could PM him.
Maybe also he could verify the accuracy of the website.

This was discussed a little bit ago. Go to MS and download their multilingual pack, then you can copy the text from google tranlations into Corel.

Yep, Mike and I are PMing away :D

That Babel fish is good for getting a feel for what is being said, but it is just that, a feel, not very accurate at all.

Cheers!

I was afraid of that. I always make my customers provide any foreign language copy and then scan it. I hate to be blamed for putting insults on someone's gift.

These are supposed to be real examples, the real translation of what some
signmakers translated wrong. From a translation service that charges .07/word.

In an Acapulco hotel:
The manager has personally passed all the water served here.

At a Rhodes tailor shop:
Order your summers suit. Because is big rush we will execute customers in strict rotation.

In the office of a Roman doctor:
Specialist in women and other diseases.

For a good laugh, take a look at engrish.com It is full of japanese products with really bad English translations. If they do that to English, think what we'd do trying to translate something into Japanese.

Mike,

Any one running Mac OS X can help you with Japanese characters ... it comes with some very nice Japanese fonts. If you have something in particular you need, feel free to contact me and I will be glad to help.

P.S. I also have access to some friends that are fluent Japanese speakers / writers and can probably help with translation.

Japanese was based on Chinese, but the two are not the same.

Just a thought.

Cheers!
