Hi
I recently saw a post/article somewhere for a dovetail depth guage when using a router. Can anyone help out? :D
Thanks,
Ken

That is likely to be very specific to the Jig you are using.
Each manufacturer of jigs includes their own instructions. There are differences in how to go about tasks that from maker to maker ttend to be essentially the same.

I just use a pencil and mark the thickness of the board-adjascent on the side face of the board in the jig.

Then I set my router to that line plus a schoosh.
Whether or no your jig is a Leigh or a PorterCable you will adjust the tightness (fit) of the joint by raising or lowering the cutter or moving the guides in or out.

Ken - I think I saw in the recent Rockler catalog that they have added a depth gauge for their jig. Is that what you saw?

It may have mine. Here is a picture if it. The dial indicator came from MSC direct.

If you want more details, let me know and I will go into specifics as to how it is set up. The one in the picture is for an Akeda jig.

Thats a highly accurate graduated measuring device. I bet the first rockets where designed with one of those.

Hi all,
Have not found the article/post that I was looking for, but got something better in your posts - the real answer to my thinking on the question if one could make a standard gauge for all models. I guess the simple answer is no!

Thanks again for your excelent response:) :D :) :D :)
