Dennis, it might be a tremporary thing. A few months back, Ridgid announced that they would no longer be manufacturing the power tool line for Home Depot. Ryobi is getting the business, so it could be that you're caught in between Ridgid production winding down (or it might have ended already) and Ryobi retooling and ramping up production.

There was one at my local store last time I looked, so you might want to check your local Borg outlet and see if they have one.

BTW, I have one and haven't experienced the problems that others have talked about. So far, I'm happy with it, but it hasn't had heavy use.

Not discontinued...just a new color. Look for it to sport more orange and dark grey on the housing.
I've had mine for about a year and a half, and it's one of my favorite tools.
