(Choke Cherry, I think) Crotch salvaged from a hedge row being taken out to make room for some in-fill housing. Roughly 13.5" by 1.75". Watco'd and Bealed. Interesting bark inclusions. Thanks for looking.

I didn't catch it at first glance. Reading Bruce's comment I went back and looked again. That is wild! There is the illusion of a beetle, the size of the piece's diameter, sitting right there in the middle. Outstanding. Awesome job!

Very pretty piece there Ted.!!!! Nice save on the crotch wood. That has some nice interesting grain in it. Very well done.!!!

Thanks to all for the kind words. Looking at grain patterns is like looking at clouds--you can conjure all manner of things. This one ran the gamut from the sublime to the erotic, but what finally stuck in my head was the image of a scruffy dog, facing right to left, with a ball in its mouth!.
