Hi Guys

I've been using the wet newspaper method to prep glass for laser etching. Works OK, enhances the frosting real nice.

Wanted to know if there's an alternative to wet paper, maybe a commercial product such as a spray-on?

The wet paper is a definite bottleneck in my production line, leads to rejects if the laser carriage wheels get wet, and just plain messy to deal with.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks!
Dave

Hi, I was told to use Dawn dishsoap as a pre-treat. I haven't tried it myself yet, so I don't know for sure if this works. Gonna try it tomorrow, though.
Good Luck

Interesting, I figured the dishsoap method was meant to soap up the water you dunk the paper in.

Do you put the dishsoap on the glass surface and wait for it to dry? Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

David,

Try changing everything that being engraved to a 70% Grey. We use this all the time and it works great also do not use 100% power use anything lower and work with your speed settings.

Try it I think you will be surprised with the results.
