This stuff is like turning a cross between ice cubes and bamboo.
No matter which direction I cut or scrape I just cant get it to work nicely.
Is there some trick to this breed of wood?

I'd love to make a bowl out of this stuff. It looks great, but I cant turn worth a darn.

Are your tools sharp?

I've had similar issues doing flatwork with it...haven't had the nerve to try turning it yet.

You might PM Curt Fuller about it though: he kicked butt in the 'geezer goblet' contest here awhile back (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=33826). Only reason he didn't win was because his two ZW goblets split the votes.

That was my first thought, so I sharpened everything.

B, unless you're in the witness protection program you really ought let us know your first name.

I've bought a piece of zebrawood a while back, about 6x18x2 and turned a few goblets and this potpourri dish from it. It's a little splintery but sharpen you tools up and crank the speed up on you lathe a little and it helps. I seem to remember doing a little extra sanding too.
