Hello all,

Do you guys use sandpaper (other than for sharpening). Being that sandpaper is a fairly new tool (non-traditional) I was wondering if some of you avoid it. If so, how do you handle finishing coats? What is the Neander alternate? Any comments appreciated.

Pedro,

I try to plane everything I can, scrape when I can't plane just right (what the old timers used before sandpaper...still works and looks much better) and sand what I have too. Nothing beats a good set of scrapers...you can even get a Lie-Nielsen set for $15 I think, but any old saw stock works, heck even a piece of broken glass works. A goose neck scraper is worth it's weight in gold, when you have curves to deal with....
