Well I finally went and got my saw and wow does it cut. It is a couple of steps up from the Poulan 16" I have been using. Ended up getting the Stihl MS 290.

With all the turmoil here I didn't get much of a chance to use it, but I did trim up the blank it is sitting on to hollow out this weekend if everything goes as planned.

This old man needs to eat some Wheaties or something, after a half a day with the kids I was to tired to do more then trim the blank before I was feeling it, the 98 deg didn't help either.

Anyways this will be making short work of any future cutting I will be having for the lathe..

Thanks for looking.

I had the same saw. But then it was the Farm Boss 029. They did change some of the details of the saw though. That is one GREAT saw. I really like it, good power and will cut anything you can throw at it. Now if I could only learn to sharpen the chain.:D

Congrats. Now go get the Kevlar pants. They are WAAAAAAAYYYYY cool to cut in and they make you look super tough.

I know how you feel, Dick. Problem is, working out and getting into shape isn't nearly as easy as sitting in my recliner and watching tv:rolleyes:.

That is one great looking cutting utensil. A real beauty indeed!

Nice gloat Dick. You'll get a lot of life out of that saw if my friend's experiences with Stihl is any indication. Especially if you leave it sitting there as clean as it is now. Give it a good workout and get it dirty man. I've seen some that look like they've been through a hurricane that just keep on running. Be safe.

Nice saw, Dick. But, I think they cut better when they're all orange on the power head. :D Have fun sawing and be safe!

Very nice! 'Looks just like mine...but a LOT cleaner! LOL! Congratulations. You'll enjoy the "it starts easy after being put away for a long time" feature, too... ;)

Sure, it cuts great and all, but does it say "Wild Thing" on the bar?

And I'm pretty sure if that Stihl had some purple it'd cut faster.

:D :p :D

Great gloat, Dick...ya done good. (I'm sure you already knew that, though.)
