OK so I'm in my temp shop and needed to plane 3 pieces of 8/4 24" long but since I am in a temp shop I needed some sort of a way to collect the chips. I am using my DW735 with it excellent chip extractor and have learned from previous lessons that it can generate a lot of chip and fine dust. So says I to myself, simple, Furnace filter, flex ducting, trash can and duct tape otta do the trick. I figure the fine dust might get out but with the aid of some box fans I can handle that.

So here are the results

It failed miserably.

Just told LOML that I'll be making a trip to HF to get there 2 HP unit and ordering the Winn 1 micron filter. This will have to do until I get the new shop and can put together a proper system. I just signed the contract today with the builder for the new shop with a house attached so I'm about 5 months away from a perminate shop.

Too much length and slop in the flex duct.

A short piece, dropping directly into a trash can - maybe thru a hole cut in the filter - would've worked much better.

But... Now you've at least convinced SWMBO that you should get a DC.
