I'm making a game board out of red oak and would like to have 6 sets of marbles from different species of wood. All I have been able to find are listed as "hardwood". I suppose these would work if I stained/dyed them, but not quite what I was looking for. What about using a lathe to make my own?

Brian,
Why not use the lathe? If you turned them ((a set) each out of a diff. wood) as a spindle and then cut them apart and sand them, it should work.
