I recently saw someone's segmented pens. I was stunned, and drawn in at the same time. It took pen turning to a whole new level for me. I thought, humm I need to figure out how to do that.
Among the several exotic samples I saw, were very thin pieces, like veneer on edge! cut at angles dividing two different woods. I think this person is so creative, he may have come up with these designs himself. Thus, he wasn't to really ready to share. There may have been more details than he wanted to get into:confused:

Meanwhile, I'm going to contiue my search at SMC. Does anyone know of some plans or drawing of segmented pen plans to show how to get started with cutting the blanks? Any ideas welcomed.
Mike

Mike I sent you a PM with another tutorial written by 4 different penturners on their methods of making segmented pens since it against the TOS to link to other forums .

This is a link to a tutorial that Mark Gisi a true pen artist made for a penturners chat. It is just some simple scetches but it gets it point accross very well.

You can check his and his sons work

They make the finest segmented pens that I have ever seen.

If my mind isn't failing me, I believe Ken Salisbury did some segmented pen work awhile back. You should also check in the "Freedom Pens" forum here at SMC in case there are some examples hanging out there.

Thanks for the reply. I know of PenTurners.Org, I'm just lazy. Sometimes I think of an excuse to post a qustion here just to start a dialog with other turners. Something good always comes up.

Mike... Thanks for the email, tons of resources.
