Loft Bed

I'm looking at making a Loft Bed for my son, and found a plan for one in WoodSmith issue #166. I would like to modify the design to integrate a bookcase into one end, accessible from both the desk and extending up to make the top-most shelf accessible from the bed. Any ideas, SU or otherwise?
