Glenn, I've never tried turning any, but Rob Bourgeois had some issues while trying to trim one back! I'd use plenty of precautions dealing with it.

I almost tried this one about three feet in dia but thought better of it. This is the same as you see growing in about every office in the US but this one was planted in the 1800īs during the rubber boom here. One day the police called and said they just cut down a very strange tree in fromt of their office and to come and get it.

I did not care well for this and it got soft and punky very fast.

Glenn, you should contact Rob "Spot" Bourgeois. He is the resident expert on how to handle fig wood. At present he is waging war on this fig tree in his yard and the mother of all newtons is winning......:p :p :p ;) :D

I'm not sure about the wood, but the leaves have been causing problems from the beginning;) .

Now that's funny. Two thumbs up Curt.

I don't know about the wood Glenn but I've been trying to get my hands on a plant for my yard for some time now. I guess you would plant them early Fall like a shrub maybe? If Rob's pictures are any indication though, I'll stay away from turning any of it and just enjoy the preserves on peanut butter sandwiches and a few off Papa's bush every once in a while.
