As many of you know, SMC member Pete Simmons does laser engraving and inlay (as well as some very nice pens). Pete and I did some "joint venture" inlayed cutting boards (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=27362) last winter, and the boards wowed everyone I know who saw them.

Pete saw the pics of a curly koa pen (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=41152) I made a few weeks back to give as a birthday gift to my sister Evelyn, and in the process of engraving some wedding pictures on black marble for me, he asked if I'd like a nice box to include with the pen. He had one that he'd been saving for a special occasion, and I guess I was it.

Here are the results...closed, open, and the back, and Pete even included my website address. (I guess he considers SoCal to still be part of the USA. ;) )

As I mentioned in the earlier thread, the curly koa came from an Arkansas Care Package I got a while back from Dennis Peacock. (Thanks again, Dennis.) That alone would have floored my sis. The pen, presented in this box, will absolutely knock her socks off. If any of you pen turning guys want to really dress up your packaging, I highly recommend dropping Pete a line and seeing what he might have available.

Thanks a million, Pete! :)

P.S. My pics should be improving soon...I have a new photo tent on order to go with my new camera (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=41437). :D

P.P.S. And no, I don't have any affiliation with Pete other than I've bought some of his stuff and he's bought some of my stuff. ;)

Excellent Vaughn that was a beautiful pen anyway and now the presentation is as good as the pen! Nice job to both of you.

Man, that's a nice box and an equally nice pen. Almost too pretty to use.

The box was 1 out of about 200. I saw that grain and set it aside some time ago. You would be surprised how many of the boxes have very nice grain on the bottom and just a plain top. Glad everyone likes it. Wish I could say they are all that nice.
