Here is mine built of scrape plywood. I can pick it up and move it from one lathe to the other. Works for me.

And here is the nook in my basement which turned out great for the turning lab, pre tool holder.

I normally do not post pictures of my shop, but I had my helper come in and clean it yesterday so here they are.
The first picture shows the Poolewood with the lathe tools within easily reach. The second picture shows the opposite side of the lathe and the working end of the tools. The third picture shows a bench which is one step behind me when I am turning on the Poolewood. I only have to take one step to sharpen my tools. While attending meetings and seminars I was told to do a better job I really must have certain tools, you will see those underneath that bench with dust on them. Picture #4 has some tools that we found the other day, they were old Sears tools I started with on an old Craftsman Lathe. You can tell I don't throw stuff away. Picture #5 is a shelf one step behind me also which has more tools, and sanding paper and disk. I have more tools under a Nova Lathe in the shop, and a buffing station with some old ones near it. I guess you can see why I have another building for applying finishes. Yes sir there is nothing like a neat shop. As always your comments are welcomed.

Von:
As you can this is a working model and experimental shop, not a tool collectors shop. Not pretty but puts out a lot of stuff. The only experiment we havent really tried is keeping it clean as we are to busy. By the way this looks even worse than normal.

Claude, your pictures produced a bunch of pop-up ads and other stuff my virus/spybot protections had to kick in to prevent and remove.

I personaly block all pop ups and adds directly from Explorer so I never noticed this inconvenient.

Glenn,

Looks like someone has a case of the HSS (Horizontal Surface Syndrome). I can't say anything though. I've been a sufferer for years.

I don't have any current pictures of my shop but you can see it pretty well under the Articles \ Shop Tour section of my web site (www.overmanshop.com (http://www.overmanshop.com)). I basically use peg board with holders from the big box store.

I swear by looking at some of these photos and the cleanliness of some of the shops ( not all) we have a group of misplaced surgeons mixed in here.

Von,

Here is a link to my recent shop tour including my turning area and tool storage. I try to keep it simple, but sometimes get carried away.

ENOUGH of these UNUSED Lathe Pictures!:p Now this lathe is used..........A LOT.:D :D I just LOVE to be up to my knees in chips and I Don't care WHO knows!

If you want to see a CLEAN SHOP, don't come here!:D

Most tools are on the wall. The thin box, next to the drawer holds a set of HF HSS tools. The Drawers hold Chucks, etc. All close by.

Bruce;)
(Course you ALL know I'm havin' some fun with you folks that Clean your shop, then take pictures, just to make us slobs feel bad.:D :D )

Bruce, The only reason mines clean is because I haven't had a chance to do any turning..:( As soon as I make some progress on the project LOML has me doing I plan of changing that..:D

Bruce, I had a choice this morning, vacuume the shop or work on my roof. The roof can wait. :D I will say, working on building back up the chip pile. :D

Heck Bruce, your shop looks like it's prep'd for a field medical unit compared to mine right now. In fact, I think I'll go out and clean it up in a few minutes... right after I rough out a piece of that maple I got the other day... so that means tomorrow or the next day.

My wife likes cleanleness also that is why she will not come into my shop. She visits the finishing building, the building where I dry bowls and do my photos, and the building where I have a store, but not the shop. The boy that cleans the shop knows better than touch my benches. He only cleans the floor and vaccums the bandsaw, and walls, somewhat. A female lady customer person visited the shop about 2 years ago after she called and asked for permission. Upon arrival she said, "Glenn don't you ever clean up this place?" I replied, "Yep, I sure do, we have been busy cleaning all morning in anticipation of your arrival. Look at the wheelbarrow loads of shavings out there by the burnpile." I admit the shop does get deep sometimes, but I do a lot of work in it.

Well, here's my turning area. While it's not a real recent photo, it does show my set up.

My turning tools are stored along the left hand wall on a rack I built several years ago. Drill bits and specialty bits are stored in the wall cabinets behind the lathe.

My workbench is to the left. Overhead on a shelf you can see some roughed out salad bowls drying. Under the bench is some more turning stock as well as my Delta Midi Lathe. You can see I tend to squirrel away wood just about anywhere there is a space. However, I have a funny feeling that I'm not the only one here doing that!:D

To the right of the lathe is a cart with a MDF work surface attached. I usually lay the tools I need for a project out on this. On the end of the work surface is my Grinder/Wolverine Jig. Underneath that is a rack for storing drill chucks and tool rests.
