I have a FMT. I have been using my Bosch 1617. I would like to get a dedicated router. I was thinking of the Dewalt DW621 or DW625. Any thoughts?

As good as it gets (DW).

I'd 2nd Pat's comment about the DW. I would add a Woodrat plunge bar kit to the DW. It's a great addition to the FMT. I plunge/drill the mortice 1st then clean with a side-to-side motion. I climb cut the outside of the tenon, then go the otherway to finish it off...

Hope this helps, jim

Another vote for the 621. Works beautifully on mine.

I use a Bosch 1613EVS for mine because I already had one. If I was looking to buy a plunge for dedicated use to the FMT, I would go for the lightest 2HP router I could find. I cut 126 mortise and tenons in one afternoon and that router got awful heavy as the day went on.

I have both the Bosch 1617 (dedicated to the FMT) and the DW 621. Like other posters, if I were changing routers, I would look for a lighter one. I do like the controls on the dw handles, so you don't have to search for the off switch when you need it. I would also look for something with more plunge travel distance than the 1617.
