Rockler had a book that was nothing but different forms....mostly outlines. When I saw it I didn't have the cash on me.....so I waited. Now they don't have it anymore and they don't have the tags either, which means they aren't getting it back in stock. My problem is I cannot remember the name of the book and I'm hoping someone here has seen it or bought it and can tell me. Any help is definitely appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,
I was looking at some books at Barnes & Nobel this week nothing but designs. I will try to get you an author and title if it is still there. It was around $35.00 in h/b.

Thanks Fred. I looked in a few bookstores here but I guess there isn't a very big demand for WW'ing books. :( Haven't tried B&N...:o

Could it be, "500 Wood Bowls: Bold & Original Designs Blending Tradition & Innovation"? You can find it at online booksellers.

"500 Wood Bowls" is my goto book for design inspiration. I also like American Craft, American Style, and Dwell magazines for some design ideas. One suggestion when you're looking at design is not to limit yourself to turned wood objects. Pottery, glass, textiles, and architecture give me inspiration all the time.

Now I just have to figure out the craftmanship behind what I see.

There are a couple of books on bowl design for woodturners available. One is by Richard Raffin. I can't remember the other but I have it at home and can get you the name later.
Try googling bowl design books.
I just did a search and found "Shapes for Woodturners" by David Weldon. Hope this helps.
Found another one-"Woodturning-A Source Book of Shapes" by John Hunnex, on Amazon. All 3 of them should be available there.

Have fun,

Joe, Don I thinks has the title you are wanting. The one I had been looking at was Woodturning-A Source Book of Shapes by John Hunnex.

I might even have that book. I found it at a discount store along I-75 once....

I would search Amazon.com. They have one of the best search engines around for books. They'll usually show the front cover too, so that it will joggle your memory....

Speaking of which, here is the book that Bernie mentions:

**Edit**

And since I was there already I searched "Woodturning shapes" and found mine:

Thanks all........

I'm gonna go to B & N and see if they have the titles you suggested. Sure wish I could remember, think CRS is setting in. :o I don't like buying books online, I need to look thru them first to make sure it's what I want. There are too many books out there written on the same subject and it's hard to figure out which ones are good.

The way MY lucks been going, I'd end up with a 'Dick n' Jane' version.............

"Look Dick, look."
" Here is a form."
" I like this form, Dick."
" Do you like this form Dick?"

Joe I don’t know whether that can be useful to you, but this books are quite interesting and does not cost a fortune. I hope I could have been of some more help.
CLick on the pictures to see them in a bigger format.

Thanks Claude. I want to say that book #2 was the one, but I'm not sure. I think a trip to the bookstore is in order for tomorrow. (Hopefully)
