He has other outstanding maple, but those are bandsawn blanks.

ok maybe I'm dense here, I understand the 2x6 part
but 8x36?

I'm guessing for a longer stock with some drop for a traditional muzzleloader. (original post said 8/4 so these are likely the other dimensions).

but 8x36?I read that as 2" thick, 6"-8" wide, 36" long.

Frank, Dunlap Hardwoods in Virginia specializes in gunstock blanks (among other things). I think the business was started primarily for gunstocks. I visited there when I was in Virginia recently, not sure if they are set up for internet sales:
