Thanks for answering my questions on kids making pens. The picture is my nephew Trey and his first pen. The wood is mesquite from his grandfathers ranch. He did virtually all the work himself, I showed him how to do it then he took to it like a tape worm to ground beef. The picture shows how he feels about it.

Tom that is awesome. I did that with my nephew. Sure does give you a warm feeling. Great job.

Looks like the pen matches his smile. Great job and I'm sure he'll be telling stories about his uncle's shop for a while.

Tom, your nephew has really caught the bug! That is a supernifty looking pen. Unique, and I'll bet he'll just be grinning ear-to-ear showing that baby off at school this year.

Tom... I'm jealous.. I couldn't drag my son (or nephew before he grew older) to the lathe with a chain and a tractor.
This just builds great memories. His friends won't believe him at first, "You MADE that pen."

I couldn't help but notice... he's as tall as the head stock:cool:

I love the face of your nephew. He is sure very happy. You did very well and he will enjoy coming back to your lathe
