Large Burl -- How to ?

I have a large burl I had saved when trees were cut on my lot last week. It is roughly 13" - 16" in diameter. It was cut with about 6" of the trunk on either side. I have coated the cut ends with latex paint, but am looking for suggestions as to what to do next. I suspect that like diamonds the first cut could be critical.

I could use some for turning, but would also be interested in getting some veneer out of it.

I just put in the shop. Left it there for two years. It was a small, cherry burl. Turned really well without any splitting. Don't get impatient.
