I went to a stocking hardwood place in Spokane today. I came home with some cherry I'm not awfully fond of and some tiger wood....Anybody ever turned or finished same? Any information on this wood would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I bought some tigerwood/Goncalo Alves pen blanks from Curtis "adoptwood" Seebick awhile back. Hard, dense, turns and finishes real easy, looks great!

Barry has it right. The tiger wood I have seen is usually the darker and not striped or figured Goncalo alves. It finishes with a lustrous sheen with golden undertones when finely sanded. I have some planks of it I have been considering for use in a segmented piece.
