I'm refinishing a Piano with nitrocellulose lacquer. I'm spraying with a Spray-tech HVLP with a Cap-spray gun. I have completed the case, legs and all the other parts except for the lid with no problems. The lid gets small areas around 1.5" x 4" to 6" long that wrinkle badly. So I tried sanding them out spraying a couple of coats of shellac (no wrinkles) and then spraying the lacquer again, but the wrinkle areas came back. I can't think of anything else to try any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Scott

...back when finishing golf woods, (stone age), I was spraying black on a laminated maple head. I'd apply a beautiful coat of black lacquer and the next day a wrinkle, or crepe spot would appear. I sprayed pigmented shellac and it finally took the finish. I dunno your problem, but you may want to strip it down and wash it with alcohol. That's my best shot. Good luck.
