The web site

http://www.bookcloseouts.com

has a bunch of Taunton/fine woodworking books on closeout for 50% or less. No connection, but I've seen more than one that I'd like to have.

Rich,

thanks for the coupon!!!

Everyone else -- note that they have Chris Becksvoort's most excellent "The Shaker Legacy" available, but not many copies. The softcover is $10, and the Hardcover is HALF that at $5. Heck, I was happy to buy it for $20 when Lee Valley had it.

Thanks! I picked up "1 or 2".

My, what self control! My first cull (did a search on "taunton" and read all 8 pages of results) ended up at a price of $120 or so, before revised and knocked 30-40% of them off.

Tough call though... which book is better: Leonard Lee's guide to sharpening, or Thom Lie Nielsen's guide? And all the Sarah Susanka books are good also. not to mention....

Thanks guys. Now I have to explain to my wife whats in the box when it arrives. I keep telling her "at least I'm not out drinking".

You guys are welcome, but with my recent Festool haul I had to painfully sit on the sidelines on this one. :(

I found 7 that I had to have, and confessed to my wife and CPA, who found four for herself.

You are covering the $86.14 that you cost me, aren't you?

Thanks for the link.

If anyone has a Half Price books store in your area you may want to check them out. I get Taunton books their often. Some as low as $3 when they are $17 or $20 on their web page. They are brand new not used. Must be over stock or something.

Up date. I just check the closeout page above and found the Spay Finishing book for $9.99. Got that one at Half Price Books for $3.00. Remember it is a close out book place so it may be hit or miss but they do have them often.

I picked up three myself last night. Dunno when I'll get time to look at them, but it was hard to pass up the prices, and I got out for under $20, shipped.

...artActually, the "1 or 2" was quite sarcastic. Those "1 or 2" cost me over $120! So, the self control does not exist!

Hey folks...

In case anyone is worried about this place, or wondering... I picked up my order on the weekend(**) and the quality of the books is great. In fact, I'm not even sure that they bothered to mark the books. Usually remainders get marked with a black marker swiped across the bottom or top of the pages. I've got a book with me at work right now (for lunchtime reading) and it isn't marked at all.

** My folks live in the town where the retail arm of bookcloseouts is located, and if you pick up the order, then "shipping" is just $1, no matter the size of your oder. And it was time to have the kids visit their grandparents.

ps: you think this is a good deal, you should see their after-christmas sale. Everything in the retail store is half price.

Just received my $85 order. Everything in great shape, some still in the shrink wrap. None of them were marked as Art mentioned.
