Hi,

I plan to take my DW618 out of my Woodpecker's Quicklift and use it primarily freehand and put a different router motor in my Quicklift.
The lift I have will fit a PC690, PC890, Bosch 1617, and DW618.

Criteria are low noise level, good power and reliablity.

I'm interested to know what you think of the PC890 vs Bosch 1617 on those two issues.

Also, what do you guys think of reconditioned?

Thanks for any help.

Pete

I have an 890 in the table and it works fine. Even though I have never used the Bosch, if you were using it handheld, I would definitely recommend it over the 890, as I'm not all that impressed with the handling of the 890. I figure the Bosch has to be better.

If you can find a recon 890 motor, I think it would be a good economical alternative that you would be very happy with for table use.

One thing I do like about the 890 in a router lift is the position of the switch. When it is on, it sticks above the top of the router making it easy to find for shutting it off.

I have no trouble with recon tools. A lot of folks hre have expressed the same sentiment; Good value, usually same warranty as new, tools work great.

Here are a couple of recons that you asked about:

I agree with Mark I have no problem with reconditioned tools as he said the warranyty is the same and they look as good and operate as well as the brand new tools. I just received a Bosch 1590VSK jig saw yesterday and upon close inspection I can not find anything that is different from brand new. I have a couple of other recon tools that I have never had a problem with.

I am personally a big fan of Bosch tools. However I am not a fan of reconditioned tools.
Just my 2 cents.

I have the Bosch in a table and have been very happy with it for about two years now. I also liked it as a hand held, and am considering getting another to avoid the constant swapping between the two. No regrets here on the Bosch.

Since you already have a DW618, what's wrong with another one?

They then can be back up for each other, and can share jigs, accessories, ....

Thanks Hoa,

I just ordered a DW618 recon from amazon for $119

Hoping it's decent.
