Thanks for the warm welcome. I think I'm going to like the Creek.

My shop is not always this clean, I do get some saw dust on the floor
occasionally but I do sweep up when I'm done for the day.

The floor has Sherwin-Williams two part epoxy with a clear coat on top.
Very hard and durable.

Obviously some of you recognize me from the other website so I hope I don't
bore you.

I do have a lathe but it is not my forte.

Here are few of my projects that a happen to have picture of.

Dave

This is a podium I made for Caterpillar Inc. Walnut and curly maple.

http://pic17.picturetrail.com/VOL846/862115/1592586/44641557.jpg

This is also a project I made for Caterpillar, a corporate logo sign made from
1" carved cherry with walnut 1 1/2" thick letters. Size is 53 x 35 and weighs
93 pounds. It is hanging at their large engine facility in Lafayette, Indiana.
http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL573/3197729/6523784/86720352.jpg

This is a Bible display case I made for my dad made from red oak. I holds one
of the oldest and rarest Bibles printed in America and printed by my great x 6
grandfather in 1776. It is estimated to be 20 to 25 left in the world with one in
the George Bush library. This was a simple project but my favorite because it was for dad and my bother and sister and I give him the Bible.

an inlay of wenge, purpleheart and bocote.

Here is yet another corporate logo sign for a company in England called Blue
Skies and is a fruit processing company with plant is Ghana, South Africa and
Egypt. Their logo is a pelican of all birds, this one made from walnut with a
maple background. This one is hanging in Ghana. The next picture is of me
and the CEO when I delivered it in England this past June.

Awsome Shop, Dave. Do you just use a roll around DC, or are your DC Ducts under the floor? I'm also curious as to the Dimensions of the shop.

Dave Shively
08-10-2006, 6:48 AM
Yes my dust collection is all under the concrete floor and there are
ii duct ports that come up thought the floor at various spot. It start
out at 5" at the machine ends up at the cyclone at 8"

Excellent shop Dave, I'd be afraid to get anything dirty if it was mine...:)

Just wondering, wood working your living or hobby (maybe both) ??

Showed it to the wife, she says no problem, we just have to move to place that has room to build one like that, find the money to build it and there's a few things the wife wants in return for me getting a shop....

Its the few things she wants that really worry me....:D

Pretty impressive shop, and projects, thanks for posting.

Here is how the clamps work on the rack. It is just a 4" angle
iron 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 that fits in the slot. Works great.

Dave, it looks like a large amount of careful thought went into that shop. I'm sure you're enjoying the fruits of your labor as much as I am viewing them. That dovetail jig setup on the tabelsaw extension caught my eye. Like many other things about your shop, it is a very clever arrangement. I just found my original floor plan I used to build the shop. It is 1536 sq. ft.
with a 12 x 12 finish room/spray room. I have a 5 x 7 utility room for the water heater, air compressor and DC. There is also a bathroom. Not only is the DC duct work under the floor, so is most of the electical that comes to each duct ports.

dave, yesterday i cleaned my overhead trunk and got 90 some gallons of residual crud. been about 2 months since i pulled the caps and cleaned it. dust pipe clogs like arteries one piece lodges then a couple more ect. with yours being in the floor a logical way to clean the trunk would be a chimney sweepers brush on a string......02 tod

Robert,

I'm not to concerned about it getting plugged up. I have not had any trouble whatsoever yet.
But if I ever should, the duct pipe is very heavy gauge spiral PVC coated inside and out and I can always snake a rooter cable though it.

Also some have asked what I painted the floor with. It is Sherwin-Williams two part epoxy with a clear coat with sand mixed in it for traction. It also sweep very well too.

Hi & WOW!
If I could ever get my shop that neat and clean I'll bet my wife would let me have a real, dedicated shop too. I think she would give up her car, shopping trips, lunch and a few bazillion other things if my shop was that neat. Unfortunately she is safe because I will never make it.

The shop looks ok, you need to get those high priced tools out of the way, they clutter the place up.

The landscaping around the "SHOP" sucks, makes it look like a huge, well maintained, professional......you get the picture.

Incredible is one word that comes to mind. I would be ashamed to show something like this to my friends unless I'm Norm's big brother.
