Anyone know where to order the high-strength "mushroom" type velcro (not the hook/loop kind)? Like the kind you get with road toll transponders to fix to your windshield. I ordered some Dual Lock from 3M, but it's a thin version more for everyday velcro type use. Did some searches on google, but either didn't show anything, or you had to order 100 yds at over $100, etc.

Radio Shack had that stuff a few years back. They likely still do. this might be the stuff you are looking for:

Doesn't look like it. This looks like the more generic industrial strength Velcro hoo & loop style. That stuff is better than standard Velcro, but not as strong as the mushroom type. The type I want does not have a male/female side, but has stiffer vertical plastic rods with the ends mushroom'd out. It kind of "clicks" off & on, not the "rip" you get with Velcro. It's made to be both stronger and less susceptible to vibration loosening than Velcro.

The Dual Lock I got is exactly the type I want, it's just scaled down and weaker.

I believe this is what you are looking for.

Nope! This is the stuff I just ordered, but notice the "low profile" claim. This is adequate for normal velcro replacement, but not the beefy industrial type.

Looks like the carry other types more like what I want. Now just to find it without buying 100 yds!

Found some also at http://www.fastenation.com/duallock.tmpl?cart=10649558283108843

However, not sure about the specs on the 10yd boxes. The real stuff I want looks to be 50yd minimum at $4+ a yd! If I read the 3M site right, I want the SJ3552 stuff.

3M site is here http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/electronics_mfg/esm/node_RKP0VX4C8Fbe/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_DPB1Q1MJ7Nge/gvel_LPQT5P05BQgl/theme_us_electronicsesm_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_html

McMaster looks good with some cheap options. Probably not 3M stuff but the price is right and you can order sane quantities. Now what else can I order so my shipping cost isn't higher than my merchandise!

Boy oh boy, isn't that McMasters & Carr some place. I have found more things there than anywhere else I shop. Their prices are competitive, but not necessarily the lowest. They are my first choice when looking for something that you can't find at the borg. You can order over the weekend, and it will ship on Monday, you have it in hand Wednesday or Thursday.

Who needs Graingers with M&C and MSC in Chicago :)

Just a happy user.
