I new to this particular woodworking forum and have resided on other
such forums in the past, but I have been reading lately on this one and like
what I see and read. I also like the format.

I have been reading several post about shop heating and thought I would
share my thoughts and what I have for my shop. It might help those who are
trying to make the decision about hot water radiant heat in the floor.

I built my shop 2 years ago and installed this type of heating system. It was not
only very cheap and easy to install, but very cheap to run as well. The shop is
1536 sq. ft. and there is over 1500 feet of PEX tubing run under the concrete
floor. I heat the shop with a 50 gallon water heater with a 50/50 mix of water
and anti-freeze. Not including the 2" foam, the whole system cost me just over
$2200, tubing, water heater, circulating pump and system and expansion tank.

I keep the temperature set at 62 and I am able to working in my short sleeve
shirt. The floor is always warm and there is no air movement or filter to get
plugged.

This is by far the best thing I could have done when constructing my shop.

Dave
