I got a "bomblet" from Barry Stratton awhile back: four vase blanks, for lack of a better description...face-grain, but taller than their diameter. He said they were for me to use to tame the HollowMaster, although I have no idea what these poor innocent pieces of wood did to deserve such abuse. Here's the first three:

The tall walnut one (3-1/4"x4-1/2") is now in use by GF as a pencil mug. The middle one (3-1/4"x4-1/4") is probably spalted honey locust (either that or sassafras...the blanks weren't labelled). The other walnut one is more of a pot than a vase, due to a violent disagreement I had with it concerning the shape of the rim.

The fourth one should be along in a week or two...thanks, Barry!

You definitely did these hunks justice!!!!!!! WELL DONE LEE!!!!!!!

subjecting them to MY turning would have been a fate much worse than YOUR hollowmaster....:D

Lookin' good, Lee. You seem to be having fun with that HollowMaster.Or not: "getting acceptable results" and "having fun" are not the same thing with that tool.

Still got some learning curve left...

There may still be some learning curve left Lee, but I believe it is starting to level out.
