Last evening, I got the winning bid notice on a Lamello Top-20 biscuit jointer for $272. Normally, I view Ebay prices as astronomical. This tool is new, unused.

Were the Tool Gods just smiling on me? If my memory is correct, this thing normally has a price of about $700, and noboby discounts them.

Now, to learn how to use biscuits.

First off, nice score!:) Second, yes they run about $700. Third, they sell digital cameras on e-Bay.:D :D :D

E-Bay tools do often run "high" like the folks buying them didn't have a clue. But every now and again . . .

Gary

I find that my best auction bargains are on special items and premium brands. I purchase a £2500 sander almost new for £200. Mainly because neither the seller or other watchers understood the use of the rather specialised machine. Maybe that was the case with this rather specialised brand. Anyway - well done!

Congratulations Gary! :)

So you no longer have to wait for Festool to release their Domino in North America. :D

And, now I guess that you have no excuse left to start building all those cabinets. :p

Frank, I specifically got this beastie to build 3 hanging tool cabinets. I still plan to get the Festool loose tenon machine, but the Lamello will do well on sheet goods. I'll be building lots of those.

And for $270, why not. Although I was put off by a remark here on SMC a week ago quoting Sam Maloof's dissatisfaction with biscuits.

We shall see how it performs. When I get more skills running my WoodRat I think that single machine can duplicate the work of many of the more specialized tools.

So, Skip, you feel the low price is attributed to the summer doldrums?
