That's cool Barry. Looks like she's well on the way.

Do you think that a 2 1/2 year old could handle that? I can't wait to get my daughter out in the shop with daddy. :)

Most excellent Barry!!!!!! Kids do surprisingly well on the lathe. I hope she'll start posting some of her work. :) Now, how many lathes are you gonna need around your house? :D

That's just too great, Barry. I do want to see pics of her finished work!

BTW: Over on AAW there was a gentleman who had his 5YO daughter on the lathe. She turned a breakfast bowl, and uses it exclusively. This kind of connection is priceless, and lasts a lifetime.

Barry old buddy. I can see it now. You can give that lathe to her and get yourself a big Jet or PM or Oneway. :p

Barry that is cool my friend. How sweet it is.

great picture. I've had my boys on the lathe already - and the youngest is four.

You might want to push that front sleeve up a bit.

Thanks folks! priceless doesn't begin to describe it. She already turned a bonker type spindle a few months back as well as some other spindle type thingies.

And Raymond - your call on when your girl can handle it. In my limited experience, its the attention span thing that determines when they are ready, not necessarily age.

And good point LARS, I rolled both sleeves up farther right after taking the pictures...

Very kewel...I'm hoping I can get my 11 year old daughter to take an interest in turning at some point. It's great for kids to do things like this as it's so easy these days to forget that people can acutually make things.

Just LOVE the overhand grip. You'll BOTH remember these days all your life. Cherish the moments. Too soon, they fly away!
