10.5" x 4.75". The form has some problems, but it's some pretty mesquite. Finished with lacquer and buffed. I think I'll try Watco on the next mesquite. I've tried several finished on this wood and so far it builds quickly to a plastic looking finish (in person that is). On this one, I sanded down the lacquer with 220 twice and back up to 600 the second time. Then a 3rd coat and buffed. The buffing took out some of the plastic look, but not nearly all of it.

Not sure what problems you see in the form Ernie. I think it's really nice. That's a great looking shape to bring out all the beauty in the wood and bark. Very nice!

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Mesquite is nice to turn and doesn't move much. After it dried, I took off maybe an 8th inch to get it round again.

What a beautiful piece of wood. Beautiful form also. I don't see how you figure there's a problem with it.
Mesquite is one of my favorite woods for turning. Tried carving it also but it's a heap of trouble...............

I like too Earnie, I am kinda partial to the shiney stuff and the wood speaks for itself very nicely done.
