My wife's sisters youngest son is up for the weekend. Having never done ANY woodworking, he was excited to try the lathe. After some instruction and hands on, I cut him loose. This kid is a natural, chips were flying and smiles were continuous.

His first attempt was the prerequisite bonker, albeit a mini....

He also picked, cut, drilled, turned, finished, and pressed together a toolbox pencil. It is in his tight grasp so no pics of it, yet:D

Throughout our 4 hours in the garage...he was asking about prices and what all he needs to get set up at home in Seattle........

Very cool, stuff. I'm betting he'll always remember this trip up to Uncle Barry's place.

I did the same thing Barry with my nephew. Had a fun afternoon with him. I think it is great getting him involved. Great job Barry.

To save family relations, just give the SIL a thousand bucks, and tell her about Woodcraft in Seattle, otherwise you shall always be remembered as the one that caused their bankruptcy :) Good job Barry

Who would have thought that Bonkers would bring so many families together?
