Engraving on quartz

I have a request from a customer todo some laser engraving in natural quartz stone. Anyone have experience with this material. I've engraved into a lot of different thinks but this is a new on one me, if it can even be accomplished.

About the same as granite, isn't it?

Granite contains some quartz, but quartz is much harder. It's more like a gemstone. Harder than granite, softer than saphire.

I just finished engraving quartz and it works great except for lighter sections. If you stay in the darker area you will have success.
