Odd piece of wood: in places it almost looks like cherry (at least in person). Curl didn't photograph well. 7-1/2"x1-3/4":

Nice job, Lee and, I can definitely pick out some of the curl in it! :) What finish process/method did you use on it? Looks like glass! :) :cool:

What finish process/method did you use on it? Looks like glass! :) :cool:CA (on the lathe), sand to 600, buff and wax. Since most of my turnings are from dry wood, this lets me do a whole piece start-to-finish at one sitting.

Do you woodburn your name in or is that ink?Like Don said, I use the laser. Works for everything up to about 4" tall...anything that won't fit, I turn a flat recess on the bottom and engrave the name on a disk of 1/64" birch plywood to glue in.
