Well here is my first bowl out of Ambrosia Maple. It has quite a few worm holes in it so will be like a candy bowl or something. It has one coat of Minwax Tung Oil on it. Will get another coat in 24 hrs. I don't know if I should lacquer it after the second coat dries or use Wipe on Poly. Can't make up my mind. It is 6 3/4" across and 3 3/4" deep. Boy that wood was hard turning after it dried.

Outstanding job Bernie. That is some beautiful wood with a lot going on in it, all kinds of different grain and markings.

Again, great job.;)

Can't add much to what's already been said Bernie, I like your bowl too, and I think the wood is awsome.

That's really nice Bernie. The oil really brought out the color in that wood.

Thanks for the comments. I am kinda leaning toward wipe on poly on top but sure do like the looks of the satin lacquer. Guess I will flip a coin. I really do like the ambrosia maple. It sure is a pretty wood. Tomorrow the second coat of Tung oil goes on and the dry for 24 hrs.

GREAT JOB, Bernie!! And a magnificent piece of wood. I'm guessing that didn't come from Kansas????

Verry pretty work, Bernie. Wipe on poly or satin laquer, whatever you choose I'm sure will only enhance this already lovely piece.

Bernie, nice one! Looks like it should hold Andy-sized mounds of ice-cream! :D That Ambrosia has to be some of the darkest I've seen. Very nice! :)

Thanks again. I will be keeping my eye out for some more of it. I really like the looks of it. I just got the first coat of wipe on poly after 2 coats of tung oil. Doesn't look to bad.

Hi Bernie,

Just now caught the thread and wanted to say how nice this one turned out.

Beautiful job as always, but then again, we have come to expect that of you :)

Keep spinning my friend.... you're a natural.
