just finished my first goblet out of ash. Turns out (HA HA HA) :D that the bottom has a crotch in it :D Exactly 6 in tall, base diameter is 2 5/8 and top of top diameter is 2 3/8, the hole is about 2 5/8 deep as well. weighs 3.8 oz, and the finish is mineral oil and then beeswax.

PLEASE give me critique that I can use to make nicer ones in the future!! :D

Ben,
That's a very nice goblet in my opinion, only thing i'd change would be the
base, instead of running that edge straight down where it touches the
table, round it over maybe, like what the base of a crystal stemware
piece would have and look like??? Just my preference, it's really nice as it is.

Bottom? Crotch? Ash? Guess I better leave that alone. I really like your goblet. Very clean lines, classic shape. Very nice.

Very nice goblet Ben. I personally wouldn't change a thing form-wise.

Ben,

Looks great! I really do love the strong grain lines in ash. Very dramatic.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, form-wise. The only thing I might do is make the foot slightly bigger in relation to the bowl. There are a great deal of things you can try to make it different, though. Thinner stem, taller, different foot.

Great job on a first. I won't post pictures of my first :D

Well, Ben, I must agree with the others in that I don't see anything to Critique here. I love the way the grain flows around the piece.

I like the goblet Ben, but I do agree with Jeff about the sharp edge on the bottom.

Sweet! Nice looking goblet. That ash can be tough to turn and it looks great. I have a block of ash I think i will make my first goblet out of!
