Walnut lidded HF with Blackwood collar and finial. 5" diameter, 3 3/4" tall w/o finial, 5 1/2" tall with. Watco finish then a light buffing on the Beall.

Travis that is beautiful. I love working with walnut. You are putting the bar so I high I won't see it for a while. I love the form and finish. Nice job.

Not sure what else to say. That's one of the nicest pieces I've seen. Fantastic job. I want to pick it up and cradle it in my palms.

That is remarkable, looks like a museum piece, how do you hollow out a piece like that? does it have a false bottom or do you use a special attachemnt on the lathe?

Yep, a special attachment........ see where all the money goes :D

it is called a Hollow Form Captured Rig, as I understand it, and many have made their own....

Julio, like Stu said, I use a captured hollowing rig. This one was done on my PM3520, with the full sized rig. I use a vacuum chuck to finish off the bottoms of my turnings whenever possible. The vortex knows no bounds.;)
