These belaying pins were made for French and Indian War re-enactors who portray ex-sailors working as soldiers. They were used for securing ropes on wooden ships. And for securing sailors (press gangs) along the docks in London. Now that is a real bonker for knocking them over the head. They would wake up at sea and in the British navy.

These are about 1-1/4" on the flat portion with a slight taper to make them easy to get in and out of the hole on the railing or around the mast.

Tried to have some made for my Nautical Room.
Now that I'm Abysserated, guess I'll have to make my own.

Nicely executed bonkers, John. I'd hate to run up against one of those in a dark alley... :)
