Thats a very fine post but I'm afraid I find it all to complicated for my doweling needs.

What I was trying to show is the accuracy of this set-up and positioning method.

I think that you can use the positioning method with the spacers, with other jigs, like yours for example.

For me, it’s not so imported if the hole is 1/64” or even 1/32” off the center of the 1” thick board as long as it’s the same distance from the edge. What is more important for me is that the holes will be at the same distance from the “face” or the front side of all the 4 boards that will give me an accurate carcass connection.
