Well, as promised I worked on the third piece of purpleheart yesterday. I'm pleased with the way the triplet came out but will probably re-work the finish on the last piece. I'm not satisfied with it as I am the others. I textured the piece with a dremel with a spur bit.

I included a pic of the bottoms also. I'll put my brand on them when I've finished re-working the finish on the third one.

Very, very nice work Raymond. I am not into lathe stuff, but those 'trays' caught my eye. I like the shape and color/finish.

Those are way cool, Ray!!! I too really like the texturing feature on them. :) (Maybe a mini-tutorial lurking in there somewhere???:D ) Also, what method did you use to finish the foot on those guys? Doesn't look like a jamb-chuck would do the job.... :)

John,

I'll try to put something together for the texturing tutorial but can't say when it will be done. I learned the method from an Al Stirt demo and have to give him the credit for the design and style.

I did use a jamb chuck to finish the bottoms. I'm just real good with a chisel and sandpaper after I get down to the nub.

Thanks for the comments.
