This old chunk of Black Cherry was rescued from the firewood pile after I got back from Travis' in April. I was inspired...:)
As this piece dried out it developed a significant split that started in the foot and came a ways up the side. I put it on the rack and left it, not intending to finish it. But my wife kept on at me until I tried patching it up and finishing it as best I could.
It's a bit rough on the inside - just cut as clean as I could with a scraper - no sanding. It's about 8-1/2" tall and about 6" wide. It was finished with Watco and buffed.
(You can see the epoxy/charcoal-filled split in the second picture)
