Saddle Stand plans/ideas

My mother in law has purchased a beautiful childs saddle and wants to display it in her front entry way. She has requested that I build her a saddle stand.

I googled for one, but most appear to be very basic and designed to serve a very utility service. I need one to be a display/show piece as well. More along the lines of nice furniture.

Any ideas?

Steve, try highhorseranch.net for a picture of something a little better, or look at the Kirg Ranch saddle shop website. They've got some really nice wooden stands. When you search on google try saddle rack and you get some different results.

Steve........if I may make a suggestion. Find a design that you like but don't overdo the saddle stand. Make it with a high degree of craftsmanship but don't make it too ornate or use unusually beautiful piece wood so that it doesn't compete for attention with the saddle. The object is to display the saddle not the stand...IMHO.
