Here's a second square bowl that I finished last week. I had not had the chance to post it. I used black gesso and carved through it with a dremel for the texture.

Purple Heart Square Bowl
Black Gesso, Laquer
7" x 7" x 3"

Can you tell us how thick they are? I'd also like to see how you finished the bottoms. Your beautiful work might inspire me to try that one of these days...

Those are lovely, Raymond. A few questions:

1) What is "Black Gesso"?

2) What size stock did you use?

3) Is doing this kind of work any more hazardous than doing a natural edge?
